Lucille-wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother was a true Christian who never met a stranger and saw Christ in everyone. She passed away on February 19, 2013 at The Haven with her husband of 66 years, James, holding her hand and surrounded by her children. Lucille was born in Worcester, MA on July 31, 1924 as the 4th of 9 children to Ferdinand and Cora Dion. Lu and Jim were married August 30, 1947. Lu was a typical, adaptable Navy wife who could entertain a Captain and his wife in the living room and simultaneously keep three preschoolers quiet in the den. Lucille and Jim lived in many Navy towns before being transferred to Pensacola in 1974, a town they loved and choose to remain post retirement. She was an active participant in her parish, St. Paul's Catholic Church and served as member of the parish counsel, lector and Eucharistic Minister. Every Monday for over 20 years Lu served as Catholic Lay Minister at West Florida Hospital. On the civic side, she was house manager of the Pensacola Junior College Lyceum series for many years. She was an avid bridge player in many groups, especially ROWW. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Rev. Louis Dion; sisters, Irene Gignilliat, Sister Theresa Dion, and Jeanne Gallagher. Lucille leaves behind her husband James; her children, Joan Monroe of CO, Anne (Paul) Mucinskas of MA, James (Maureen) Osborne of MD, Marie "Dee" Osborne of FL, Paul (Diane) Osborne of VA, Patrick (Lee Anne) Osborne and Martin "Duke" Osborne of MD. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; her brother, Richard (Carmen) Dion; sisters, Claire (Richard) Racine, Doris Racine and Sister Beatrice Dion. Visitation will be held at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 from 2-5 pm with a Rosary prayed at 4:30pm. Fr. Michael Nixon will celebrate the Funeral Mass on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at St. Paul's Catholic Church at 10am. Lucille will be buried at Barrancas National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be members of her Marriage Encounter Group.
