Lurty Chew Arbogast

Born July 3, 1927, born in Richmond, Virginia, passed away on March 12, 2020, in Pensacola, Florida.

Lurty was born to the late W.L. Arbogast and Esther R. Chew Arbogast in Bluegrass, V.A., in addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Bette Taylor James Arbogast, step sons Thomas Currin James and Bradley Clarence James.

Lurty spent his career as an accountant for Mobile Oil and has lived in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Venezuela, Malta and Libya, just to name a few. He proudly served his county in the United States Navy.  Lurty was an active member of First Christian Church on Langley Avenue in Pensacola and will be missed by many.

Those left to cherish his memory include,  his special friend of many years, Leta Perkins and her family, sons William (Wendy) James, Roy (Judy) James, and grandchildren William James, Jr., Tonya James, Jennifer James and great grandchildren Jean Phillip Allemond and Bentley James.

The family would like to thank the caregivers of Brookdale Assisted Living and Vitas Healthcare for their exemplary care of Lurty. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in Lurty's name to First Christian Church, Building and Grounds Fund, 6031 Goodrich Road, Pensacola, Fl 32504.
