In Loving Memory of Lydie Jane Meilner

PENSACOLA, FL - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved Lydie Jane Meilner, who peacefully departed us on September 13th, at the age of 87. She was a true Southerner who lived her entire life by the gentle waves of the Pensacola beach, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.

Born on December 4th, 1935 in Pensacola Florida she embodied the strength, grace, and charm of the South. Her life was a testament to the enduring beauty of Gulf Breeze which held a special place in Janie's heart, as she spent her life nestled by the gentle waves and sugar-white sands. She adored the sunrises that painted the sky with hues of orange and pink, and her mornings often began with the serene sound of the Gulf of Mexico's waves caressing the shoreline with her beloved Bill who stood by her side through a lifetime of adventures on the ocean.

As a devoted wife to Anthony William Meilner, Lydie Jane Meilner built a life filled with love, adventure, and enduring partnership. Together 45 years, they enjoyed their home on the beach, savoring the life and carefree living along the ocean.  To her, the sea was more than just water; it was a source of solace, a place she shared with her lifelong partner.  She often talked of the love of her life lovingly calling him "her monkey" Bill with tales of days gone by. Her stories transported listeners to a time when life was simpler, the events at the Pensacola yacht club, boating trips with Bill and the memories everlasting.  A pillar of her Pensacola community, Janie worked 30+ years at Chelsea title company, volunteered on the Fiesta of 5 Flags celebration and was devoted to church activities.  She was an avid knitter, seamstress, crocheted and learned the art of embroidery.

Lydie Jane Meilner was preceded in death by her loving husband, Anthony William Meilner.  She is survived by her sister, Linda Jeffery, her nieces, Rebecca Connolly, Jennifer Metzler, Sarah Connolly and her nephew Gerard Connolly, and Bill's brother, David Meilner.

A celebration of life service to celebrate Lydie Jane Meilner's life will be held on Saturday, October 7th at 11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church the Bill and Janie Meilner Memorial Bequest , reflecting Janie's deep commitment to giving back to her beloved church community.

Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who cherished her, but her spirit will forever be carried by the gentle breezes and shimmering waves of Pensacola Beach.  Let us remember Lydie Jane Meilner, though she may have left this world, her spirit will forever linger and as she embarks on her eternal journey, may we take solace in knowing that she will forever be a part of the sands and sea of the Gulf Breeze that she so adored.

A special thanks to neighbors Nell Rogers and Jerry Day and the entire CCU Nursing staff at West Florida hospital.

Rest in eternal peace, Lydie Jane Meilner, a cherished sister and friend.  You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
