IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lynda
Creed
March 18, 1947 – February 28, 2025
Lynda Grace Futch Creed joined her husband in eternal life in the waning minutes of Friday, February 28, 2025, in Pensacola, FL, after a short but intense battle with cancer.
Lynda was born in Atlanta, GA on March 18, 1947, to her parents, Grace and Troy Futch, and the family was later to be joined by sister, Carol. The family relocated to Pensacola, FL in 1954. Lynda loved Pensacola, graduating from Pensacola High School with the class of 1965. Accompanied by a friend, Lynda attended an event at the Aviation Officer Candidates Club at NAS Pensacola where she met AOC Andrew "Andy" Creed. They began dating after Andy refused to be rebuffed in his efforts to procure a dance.
Lynda began college at the University of Georgia while Andy completed his initial college years at Gordon Military College. The following June, Andy and Lynda were married and moved to Knoxville, TN, where Andy completed his undergraduate education and welcomed their two sons, Andrew Jr and John. Upon graduation from UT, they began their Navy journey through flight training before setting off on their life's journey around the world.
Those travels included: living in Bermuda, Lexington Park, MD, and then Brunswick, ME where Lynda graduated from the University of Maine to begin her career as an Educator. After a hiatus back in Pensacola for training, the family crossed the country to Pleasanton, CA, where they welcomed their daughter, Carlisle. Later moves led to Newport, RI, Jacksonville, FL, then returning a second time to Maryland for a final tour before retiring back to Pensacola, FL. Over the years there were many adventures to Spain, Paris, the UK, Hawaii, and more in addition to summer pilgrimages to the family camp in Weare, NH.
Mom's talents extended beyond nearly 30 years teaching young minds, to being a calligrapher, a master gardener, a committed Christian, mother, and grandmother.
Lynda is preceded in death by her husband, Andy on February 5, 2020.
Survivors include her three children, Andrew L. Creed, Jr. of Marietta, GA, John B. Creed of Spokane, WA, and Caroline Carlisle Creed Tidwell of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Alexander, Catherine, Merle, Abigail, and Aiden Creed.
