Marcia Lois Kline Boney died in Pensacola, Fl on Saturday, September 19, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Captain Wendell Fischer Kline, USN (ret.) and Lois Byrd Lovette Kline, who were natives of East Tennessee. She was born in Bremerton, WA on August 12, 1929 and grew up in California, Maryland, Panama, Washington, Florida, Hawaii and Virginia where her father was stationed. She graduated in 1946 from St Margaret's School in Tappahannock, VA and in 1950, from Wellesley College in Massachusetts. She was an extraordinary teacher who taught elementary school in Massachusetts, KY and West Tennessee for more than 22 years. In the summer of 1949, she met Samuel Ashford Boney when he was an undergraduate at the University of the South in Sewanee, TN. In 1955, they married and he became an Episcopal priest in 1959. Marcia partnered with Sam through 60 years of marriage and together they ministered to communities in Tennessee and Mississippi before retiring and moving to Pensacola in 1992. In 2001, they moved to Azalea Trace retirement community. In 2008, she dedicated her time to the work of Covenant Hospice as a Volunteer Patient Companion. She aided more than 79 residents of Azalea Trace and became a beloved member of the Hospice community. The staff at Willow Brook Court at Azalea Trace tells countless stories of her unfailing service and support to those residents. During her life, in addition to her education interests, advocacy work for seniors and her work with Hospice, she traveled extensively through Europe, Russia, and Mexico. She also participated in many church and civic activities. These included active membership in Christ Church of Pensacola, Community Concerts, and local garden clubs. Marcia's survivors include her husband, Sam; three daughters, Charlotte Marie Boney, MD (Charles Lasitter) of Springfield, MA; Sarah Ashford Boney (Michelle Hearne) of Raleigh, NC and Lois Lovette Boney (Allen Evitts) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren Hannah Lois Bradshaw, and Ian Hardison Bradshaw of Raleigh, NC and the many friends and staff at Azalea Trace whom she loved and admired. A Memorial service will be held at Christ Church, Pensacola on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, she requested memorials be sent to Covenant Hospice of Pensacola, 5041 North 12th Avenue, Pensacola, FL 32504 or a Hospice organization in your community.
