Obituary

Margaret Cary (Molly) Biggs died quietly in her sleep November 12 at age 79. She had suffered greatly, and is relieved of her distress. Her husband, Walter, and her family are so grateful she is at peace, and now celebrate her life, her accomplishments, and her love of family and friends. Molly was a proud Pensacolian, whose ancestors were among its founders. She worked tirelessly for the betterment of her city and state; she was instrumental in obtaining a federal grant to clean up Escambia County, a state board member of Keep America Beautiful, a member of the Jr. League of Pensacola, and a founding member of Volunteer Pensacola. St. Michael's Church was a very important part of her life, where she was baptized, schooled, confirmed, married and volunteered. Molly is very fondly remembered by many as a Girl Scout leader, and was always watching over kids, young and old, while swimming at Bohemia, water skiing, zip sledding, picking flowers and crabbing. At FSU, she was a member of the synchronized swimming team. Molly loved sea shells, the woods, and flowers. She was always in demand for her singular talent of flower arranging. Recently, nothing gave her more pleasure than digging in the dirt' in her garden with her friend and care giver, Sharon. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Walter, and their children: Cary Kearny and husband Ric, Beau Biggs and wife Shay, Margaret Biggs, George Biggs and wife Elizabeth, nine grandsons, two granddaughters, and one great granddaughter. Her sister Marianne Cary Beckman and husband Steve, and brother Bill Pennewill also survive Molly, and were so close to her heart. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Rhoda Mary Gonzalez Cary, her step mother Lucie Pennewill Cary, and her brother Chris Pennewill. So many others were counted among the very special to Molly. She loved and was so very loved. Visiting will be at 9 AM at the St Michael's Parish Hall, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM, Saturday, November 15, 2014 in the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel with Fr. Joe Callipare celebrant. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Basilica of St. Michael Restoration Fund, PO Box 12423, Pensacola, FL 32591, or your favorite charity.
