Obituary

Margaret "Joy" McCaskill Kemble was born May 4, 1932 in Jay, FL and passed into her eternal rest Monday, December 17, 2012 in St. Charles, IL. Known as Joy, she was raised on a farm with her parents and six siblings. Joy graduated from Jay High School in 1950 and entered nursing training at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL. Completing that training in 1953 she went to work at the Medical Center Clinic in Pensacola. In 1954 Joy met John Kemble, a flight student at Whiting Field. They were married at Gadsden Street Methodist Church on October 7, 1955, and traveled together to several locations, as John served in the Navy. They moved to Coronado, CA in 1970, where John finished his naval career. Joy worked as a nurse occasionally at several stops in their locations. Most memorably, she joined the practice of the Christian Healing Center in San Diego in 1976. The Center, led by Dr. Roger Youmans, MD, integrated the traditional practice of medicine with overt prayer for all patients and procedures. Together with John, she raised three children; Dana, John and Mark. They enjoyed life in Coronado until 1992, when they moved to Pensacola. She was active in Gadsden Street United Methodist Church. She lived for several years in Milton, FL, and then moved to Pensacola. Hurricane Ivan took their home in 2004, so they moved to Geneva, IL to be near Dana. The disease of Alzheimer's, coupled with Parkinson's, took its toll. She was homebound much of the last years. Joy was preceded in death by her parents, B. M. and Marie McCaskill; her sister, Mary Morris and brothers, Montgomery, Harry, Jim and Jack. She is survived by her husband, John Kemble of Geneva, IL; her brother, Van McCaskill (Evelyn) of Pace, FL; her children, Dana Dorsch (Tony), John Kemble (LuAnn) of Murrieta, CA and Mark Kemble (Veronica) of Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren, Joey, Ashley, Patrick, Brittany, Katie, Brian and Holly; and great grandchild, Mackenzie. Visitation will be held 2-4pm Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 10:30am Monday, December 24, 2012 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bobby Ellisor officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Joy's memory may be made to United Methodist Church of Geneva, 211 Hamilton, Geneva IL 60134 or Gadsden Street United Methodist Church, 901 E. Gadsden St., Pensacola, FL 32501.
