Margaret Sue Warren, of Midway, Santa Rosa County, quietly passed away on August 18,2025, at age 102 surrounded by her family.
Margaret was born on July 28,1923 in Agra, Oklahoma. She grew up on a farm with her father, Herman Long, her eldest sister, Beryl, and her youngest sister, Carolyn.
Margaret thrived in all she did, even without the modern conveniences of electricity, running water, and central heating. She loved farm life, including milking cows, feeding chickens, and raising pigs. Living in Oklahoma brought with it frequent tornadoes, which forced the family to take shelter in their root cellar.
Margaret moved to Edmond, Oklahoma where she graduated from Edmond High School. Later, she worked for the War Department in Washington D.C. during WW2. She married John Warren in 1946.
Throughout her life, Margaret deeply cared for her family, and bestowed kindness on others. She loved dogs, birds, flowers and her cats, Blackeagle, Twinkle, Pixie, Graywolf, Bombolurina, Victoria, Falstaff, MungoJerrie and Alice.
When she passed, Margaret was a member of Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church and recently sang as a soprano with The Silvertones.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Col. John Warren, USAF (Ret.); her father, Herman Long; her mother, Lettie Crownover; her two sister's, Beryl Gossett and Carolyn Marel.
She is survived by son, Col. John S. Warren, US Army (Ret.); daughter, Jane Buehrig; daughter, Susan Forte; and son, Brian Warren.
Visitation for Margarets friends will be held 10:00 am until 11:00 Monday, August 25, 2025, in the small chapel of Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, 75 Fairpoint Drive, Gulf Breeze, Florida. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am. Following the service, those wishing to attend the Committal will go in Procession from the church to Barrancas National Cemetery, Naval Air Station Pensacola for a 1:00 pm service at shelter A. Active Pallbearers will be Matthew S. Buehrig, Michael J. Buehrig, Timothy J. Buehrig, John P. Buehrig, David M. Forte, Peter Max Forte, Stephen J. Forte, and James E. Forte.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Silvertones, Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, 75 Fairpoint Drive, Gulf Breeze, Florida 32561.
The family would like to thank Dot Estopinal, Margaret's lifelong friend, Dr. Richard Matthews MD, retired, and People's Home Health Care of Pensacola, Florida.
