Margaret "Marge" Mercer-Kurz, 82, resident of Escambia County, FL passed away at HCA Florida West Hospital on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Marge was born in Brooklyn, NY and was employed by NY Stock Exchange brokerage firm Edward A. Viner & Company, where she paved the way for many women seeking careers in the financial district of the 70' and 80's. She had a voracious appetite for travel, filling her passport with numerous exotic overseas locations. Upon her move to Pensacola in 1993, she continued her career remotely until semi-retirement, switching gears to become the successful business owner of local laundromat and drycleaning store The Clothes Bin. Fondly known as "Grandma" to many in the local community, Marge was known for her delicious homemade fruit pies and cranberry rolls. You could frequently find her surrounded by her admirers and adopted family at the Golden Corral. Many people benefitted from her anonymous generosity, kindness and frank but honest advice.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Emma Mercer; her brothers, Raymond and William; as well as her sisters, Catherine and Ruth Ann.

Survivors include her husband, Stephen Kurz; brother, Arthur Mercer (Carol) of Melville, NY; special friend and caregiver, Andrew Lubyck; as well as an extended family of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Escambia County Sheriffs Dept, Escambia County Emergency Medical Team, the medical staff at Ascension Sacred Heart and HCA West Hospitals, and the countless Doctors, Nurses and Medical Staff who cared for her.

Marge will be cremated, and her ashes returned to NY for private interment at the family's final resting place. Please remember Marge in your thoughts and prayers and honor her memory with an anonymous kindness to someone in need.
