Obituary

Marianne Summerville deReyna, age 92, of Pensacola, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Marianne was born in Dallas, Texas to the late William Howard Summerville, Sr. and the late Eva Louise Jones Summerville. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, and sister-in-law, W.H. Summerville, Jr. and Flora Mae Summerville; brother-in-law, Edward R. Sherwood, II; and her sister, and brother-in-law, Yvonne S. Menuet and Walter H. Menuet.

Our mom loved being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She would say she was "Mom to half of East Hill and part of North Hill", the employees of Navy Public Works christened her as "Momma de" which always brought a smile to her face. Marianne graduated from Ursuline Academy New Orleans in 1948. She loved gardening, history, genealogy, and was a "rock hound" who loved participating in digs with the Houston Gem & Mineral Society.

She believed in service to others, and was devoted to The Cathedral of The Sacred Heart serving as a Lector, a member of the Cathedral Sanctuary Society, and a facilitator during the Renew Program. One of her dearest wishes was realized when she completed instruction and was professed as a Third Order Carmelite. She lived her life selflessly and was always looking for ways to make this world a little better. She will truly be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Marianne is survived by her four children, Gregory John deReyna, II (Diana), of Crandall, TX, Milton Ramon deReyna, III (Janette), David Howard deReyna (Huijuan) and Linda Louise deReyna; a Sister, Nancie Summervile Sherwood; a daughter-in-law, Eldean Feurtado deReyna; grandchildren, Gregory J. deReyna (Sandra), Bryan K. deReyna, Amy Elizabeth deReyna and Otis J. deReyna (Melissa); great-grandchildren, Thomas deReyna, Victoria deReyna, Katherine deReyna, Cora Elizabeth Burrows (Spencer), Nicholas Hainey, Alexis Hainey, Lauren deReyna, Sophia deReyna and O.J. deReyna, II.

Our family would like to thank her loving and kind caregivers; Cyndi Watts and Debra Ryans, as well as, the nurses and staff at Gentiva Hospice. Their love and care of Marianne was a Godsend.
