Marie Christoff Herring, 89, passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2016 in Pensacola, FL.
She was born in Arcadia, FL to Georgia Hutchins Christoff and Limbi Christoff, grew up in Pensacola, graduated from Pensacola Catholic High School and studied music at Loyola University New Orleans and the University of West Florida.
For over 50 years Marie directed choirs and was principal organist at Catholic churches in the area, including Little Flower, St. Stephen, St. Thomas More, St. Anne Brownsville, and NAS Catholic chapel.
She is survived by her children, Mary Herring (Timothy Bledsoe) of Grosse Pointe, MI, Joanne Carney of Pensacola, and James Herring (Jennifer McCall) of Spring, TX; her grandchildren, Jeanne-Marie Johnson (Greg), Christopher Carney, Daisy Bledsoe-Herring, Dillon Herring and Jordan Herring; and great grand-children, Lucius Bryant, Liam and Linden Carney, and Lochlin and Levee Johnson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James T. Herring; brother, Joseph A. Christoff; and grandson, Patrick Denny (Herring).
Visitation will be held 5-7pm Friday, January 22, 2016 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held 2:00pm Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Little Flower Church, Myrtle Grove with Fr. Eugene Casserly celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Herring, Christopher Carney, Timothy Bledsoe, Fred Odom, Walker Anderson, and Dennis Warren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Catholic Charities.
