On Monday, February 10th, 2014, Marie Elizabeth Sawyer, 87, went to her final rest. She had resided at Health Center of Pensacola for the last few years, and was just recently hospitalized with a brief illness. Marie was a dear wife and mother and friend to many. She was born and raised in Millersville, PA, but started to call Pensacola home 25 years ago. She enjoyed handcrafts and traveling to Europe to visit family, and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Everyone who ever knew her regarded her as very warm and kind. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Herbert W Sawyer; sons, Eric (Sue) of Atlanta, GA, Herbert Thomas (Barbara) of Pensacola, FL, Stephen D (Tammy) of Rio Rancho, NM; grandchildren, Lillian, Elizabeth, Matthew, Madison, and Mackenzie Sawyer. Marie's interment will be in the family burial plot at Saint Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Lancaster, PA. At the request of the family, the burial ceremony will be private. The family wishes to thank the staff at Health Center of Pensacola for their care and thoughtfulness toward Marie and her husband.
