Marilyn Girouard passed away at the age of 93 on Tuesday April 29, 2025, in Pensacola, Florida.

She was born to the late George and Mary Klier, in Boston, Massachusetts in 1931. Marilyn was raised in a loving family that included no less than ten brothers and sisters. Growing up in Quincy, Mass she frequented the City Point beach in South Boston where a swimming coach spotted her and recruited her to swim for the local high school. She met her husband, Frederick Girouard in Boston. They moved to New York and eventually settled in Mahopac where she resided for over 40 years. Following the passing of her husband in 1965, she raised her two young boys by herself. She would drive them twelve miles each way to a private school, teaching them how to hit a baseball, shoot a free throw and making sure they always did their homework. Despite being a single working parent as a hair stylist, she went to night school to become a nurse. Marilyn went onto work at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut for 25 years in their surgical unit, frequently working double shifts to provide for her two boys and to send them to college. As a grandmother, she traveled to Florida, New Jersey and the other side of the world in Australia to see her grandchildren. Marilyn had a strong independent spirit, and her family meant the world to her.

Marilyn is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey (Molly) Girouard and Frederick (Holly) Girouard; six grandchildren, Rachel (Nathan) Curley, Greg (Cora) Girouard, Jacqueline Girouard, John Girouard, Michelle Girouard, Lauren Girouard; and two great grandchildren, Evan Jane and Annie June Curley.

Family will be having a private service.
