IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marjorie Happe
Edwards
July 20, 1947 – November 1, 2023
Marjorie Happe Edwards, 76, of Pensacola, FL passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
Marjorie was born on July 20, 1947, in Lancaster County, PA to Marian (Van Meter) and Melvin J. Happe. She attended Lancaster Catholic High School where she was a majorette in the marching band. She learned to play the piano as a child and always had a love for music. Her younger sister Janet describes Marge as wearing "snazzy white boots with tassels. I loved to play with them, which was forbidden, because they needed to stay pristine white!"
At the University of Connecticut, Marjorie originally majored in Music, but then changed it to English when she decided to be a teacher. Marge later earned her master's degree in English from the University of West Florida, while teaching high school English for 30 years, during which time she won multiple awards for her efforts. She loved to tell stories about her teaching years, and passing on her knowledge of writing was something that she took pride in doing.
In Marjorie's later years, she loved to read, watch documentaries, decorate for holidays, brag about her grandchildren, and go to Mass. Marjorie's faith gave her strength, and in turn she gave love and respect to everyone in her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Marian Happe; brother, Bill Happe in November 2022; and grandson, Avery Stark in April 2023.
Marjorie is survived by her husband, Nicky Edwards; son, Patrick Jason Edwards (Natalie) of Columbus, IN; daughter, Jessica Stark (Russell) of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Ted Edwards, Reese Edwards, and Caden Louviere; brother, Jeff Happe (Molly); sisters, Barbara Jones (Brian), and Janet Lunde (Ron); sisters-in-law, Cary Happe, and Susan Freeland; brother-in-law, Jonathan Edwards; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will begin at 10:00am followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00am Friday, December 29, 2023, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1212 E Moreno St., Pensacola, FL 32503, with Father Dennis O'Brien celebrant.
The Edwards Family would like to extend a special thanks to good friends, Ronnie and Sally Arnold, the doctors, and nurses at HCA Florida West Hospital, and especially, Resident Doctor Singh.
