Marjorie Jeanette (Nelms) Eldridge, 92, of Pensacola died Saturday, September 6, 2014 at home. Marjorie was born in Lake Garfield, FL, on July 21, 1922, to Crawford A. Nelms, Sr., and Minnie Belle (Pillsbury) Nelms. She had one brother, Crawford A. Nelms, Jr. In 1939, after graduating from Cottondale High School, she married Joe Wilson Eldridge, Sr., her husband of over 62 years. For many years, Marjorie was a member of Granada Baptist Church where she demonstrated her faith in Christ by playing the piano, teaching a Sunday School Class, and working in Vacation Bible School. In later years, she became a member of Faith Baptist Church. Two pleasures that Marjorie pursued throughout her life were playing the piano and reading. She was a courageous, spirited woman who was loyal and devoted to her family and friends. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother. She is survived by her four children, Joe Eldridge, Jr., (Le Anna) of Tampa, FL, Barbara Eldridge and Robert Eldridge of Pensacola, Linda Eldridge Stees (Tim) of Hixson, TN; two granddaughters, Amy Stees of Soddy-Daisy, TN, and Audrey Stees Moore (Jon); two great granddaughters, Brooklynn Moore and Elliott Moore of Grass Valley, CA. A Graveside Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Lovewood Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, 1745 Lovewood Road, Cottondale, FL 32431, with Pastor Jeff Bailie officiating. The family will visit with family and friends after the Graveside Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church 3600 Creighton Road, Pensacola, FL 32504.
