Marjorie Lu Hicks Greenwald, 79, of Pensacola, FL passed away Monday, February 8, 2016.
She was born September 15, 1936 in Pensacola to Myra McLean Hicks and Herbert Hicks. A talented pianist, Marjorie Lu graduated from Pensacola High School in 1954, Florida State University in 1956, and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City in 1958. She worked as an executive secretary until her marriage to Capt. James Greenwald (USN, Ret.) in 1961. After traveling the world as a navy wife and mother, she returned to Pensacola in 1994 and has lived here since.
Marjorie Lu participated in the PHS Marching Band, Delta Delta Delta Sorority, PHS Class of 1954 Alumni (Reunion Co-Chairperson for 15+ years). She loved her family, friends, opera, FSU Football, and sports in general. She looked forward to joining her Lunch Bunch friends Beverly, Betty, Bobby Jean, Babs, Lee, Carol, and other PHS buddies. Entertaining family and friends remained Marjorie's favorite work, planning and hosting events to please everyone. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Marjorie Lu was preceded in death by her parents Myra McLean Hicks and Herbert Hicks and her dear sister Carolyn Hicks Terry. She is survived by her son Michael Greenwald, her granddaughter Katherine Greenwald, her nephew Matt Terry (Barbara) and her niece Anne Terry Vasile (Victor), grandnieces Alice and Emma Terry and grandnephew Robert Vasile.
Visitation will be 6-8pm Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be 10:00am Friday, February 12, 2016 at First United Methodist Church.
