Obituary

Marjory Edna Brewer Wilkerson 86, of Pensacola, FL, died on Saturday June 4, 2016 at Covenant Hospice at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, FL. "Marj" was born December 3, 1929 in Bingham, ME the daughter of Albert N. Brewer and Lottie J. Brewer. She started elementary school at 3 years of age because she could read and attended Cony High School in Augusta, ME. She graduated with a diploma from business school at the young age of 16. She worked most of her life, with the exception of 12 years to raise her children. She used her secretarial and technical skills in a number of job positions. Some of the positions included Secretary to the Governor of Maine, the Federal Government at the Nevada Test Site, NV, Hilton Hotels where she served several capacities that included reservations manager and the USDA in Washington, DC. She met her husband at the Nevada Test Site.

Marjory was the devoted and loving mother of four children.

She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Mary E. Wilkerson.

She is survived by her children, Ann K. Harber of Pensacola, FL, James B. Wilkerson of Birmingham, AL and "Jane" R. Wilkerson of Pensacola, FL; two beloved grandchildren, Alec W. Wilkerson of Adelaide, Australia and Marjory E. Harber of Pensacola, FL.

Our beautiful mother had wanderlust and she lived many places over the course of her lifetime from Maine to California, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Hawaii and Florida. In order for her son to join the Boy Scouts, she became a Cub Scout Leader and started a troop in her community.  She was active in both the Girl and Boy Scouts for all of her children. In 1982, Marj decided she wanted to move to Hawaii and, along with her oldest daughter, she convinced all four of her children to quit their jobs and sell their belongings to get on a plane to Hawaii. This was a true testament to her lifelong itchy feet.

The family wishes to thank Randy Harber and his extended family for the care and friendship given by each of them to our precious mother throughout the years. The family will hold a private Memorial Service.
