Mark Stephen Castro, 64, of Pensacola, Florida, entered into eternal rest surrounded by the love of his family and the promise of Christ.
Born and raised in Pensacola, Mark carried the heart of a true Floridian — happiest near the water, a fishing pole in hand, or under the hood of an older car bringing something worn back to life. He found joy in building model airplanes with patient precision, turning up Metallica or Aerosmith at full volume, and spending weekends watching local drag racing. He lived with passion and never did anything halfway.
Mark was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karol Castro, and his father, Emory Castro. The love he carried for Karol endured throughout his life, and we find comfort knowing they are reunited in the presence of the Lord.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Rose Castro; his brother, Anthony Castro; and his two daughters, Nicole Castro and Brianna Castro, who were the greatest joys of his life. Though he did not have grandchildren, he delighted in every visit that included beloved family pets — Callie the dog and bunnies Lucy and Africa — which brought laughter and light into his home. In his later days, his cherished bird Ian remained faithfully by his side, offering quiet companionship and comfort.
Mark faced many health challenges with quiet strength and steadfast faith. A devoted Catholic, he attended Mass at St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church as long as his body allowed, drawing strength from the Eucharist and the promises of Christ. His faith was not just something he professed — it was something he lived. He extended compassion easily, listened with empathy, and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His presence brought warmth to every room, and his heart for others reflected the love of the Father he trusted so deeply.
Though his time on earth feels far too short, his life was rich with meaning — in love given, faith practiced, and memories created. As Scripture reminds us:
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.” — Psalm 23:1–3
We take comfort in knowing that the Good Shepherd has now led Mark beside still waters, restored his soul completely, and welcomed him home — healed of every wound and free from all suffering.
A Funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Mark Stephen Castro will be held at St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
“Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.” Amen.
