IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha Jane
Ewing Pulford
June 13, 1924 – January 23, 2018
Martha Jane Ewing Pulford, 93, of Pensacola, FL passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018.
Martha was born in Steubenville, OH to Mary and Harry Ewing. She attended Muskingum University, Ohio State University and the Cleveland Clinic while earning a certificate in Physical Therapy. She assisted many patients, young and old, in their struggle with the crippling disease of Polio. While working in Cleveland she met and married the love of her life, Ernest A. Pulford, Jr. They recently celebrated their 65th anniversary. Martha's primary focus was her family, but she found time to pursue a variety of interests: gardening and flowers were always a big part of her life and she won numerous awards for her flower arrangements. She and Al loved to travel and explored both the US and many foreign countries. Martha was an avid reader and enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of nature, a picnic by the lake with her family on a sunny day, watching the birds or strolling barefoot along the beach collecting shells. An important part of Martha's life was the time she spent helping others. She spent many hours volunteering at church and her children's schools, and later in life visiting with and bringing smiles to many people living at Azalea Trace, a retirement community, where she and Al resided. Martha had a strong belief in God and dedicated much time to reading and studying the Bible. In her later years she found an immense satisfaction each month in sitting on the balcony of the family condo in Perdido Key watching the full moon rise and cast its silvery light across the endless waves. She was a warm, generous, loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend and she will be missed by so many.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, William A. Ewing.
She is survived by her husband, Al Pulford; sisters, Anne Berkeley and Marge Crawford; children, Barbara Keelor (Robert), Bruce Pulford (Breanna) and Kevin Pulford; grandchildren, David White (Amanda), Rachel Breeden (Adam), Rowdy Keelor (Caroline), Kyle Pulford, Corey Pulford and Caden Pulford; also 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service, to be announced, will be held at a later date at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church or The American Diabetes Association.
The family would like to give special thanks to the loving staff at Willow Brooke Court at Azalea Trace.
