Martha Elizabeth Morrissey, 95, of Pensacola, FL passed away September 9, 2012. Mrs. Morrissey was a longtime resident of Azalea Trace in Pensacola, FL. She was born on August 16, 1917 in Jacksonville, FL to Joseph Hutsell and Anna May Chaires, and was descended on her mothers side from the distinguished Chaires and Parkhill families of Leon County, FL. She attended St. Genevieve of the Pines Preparatory School in Ashville, NC and Northwestern University before becoming a military wife. She married 1st Lt. Stephen B. Morrissey on February 28, 1942, a role she stoically fulfilled through two wars, and later through two more as a mother and grandmother. She moved to Pensacola in 1985 and to Azalea Trace in 1990, with her husband, whom she was married to for 70 years, before his death August 11, 2012. She is survived by her sons and their families; Stephen R. Morrissey (Beverly) of Atlanta, GA, Michael D. Morrissey (Vera) of Kassel, Germany; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
