Martin Villar Mitchell, Jr. (93) passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013. He was born April 2, 1920 in Norfolk, VA to Martin Villar Mitchell, Sr. and Cora Metcalf Mitchell. Mitch descends from the original Spanish settlers of Pensacola. He loved his Pensacola. He served in the Army Air Corp in WWII and retired from Civil Service, NAS Pensacola after 34 years in Production Control. Mitch was a wonderful father, husband, companion and grand-dad. He had so much love and compassion for his family and loved ones. We could not have asked for a better role model. He was our everything. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 31 years Dorothy Chavis Mitchell and his companion of many years Nell C. Smith, brother Joseph E. Mitchell and sister Dorothy Cotita. He is survived by his son, Martin V. Mitchell, III (Sherry); his daughter Betty M. Busch (Jerry). His grandchildren, Christopher Staples (Jennifer), Cheryl Hobratschk (Marty), Neil Busch, Delicia Jackson (Jeff), Daniel Hawkins (Amanda) and four great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, November 21, 2013 at noon to 1 pm with services to follow at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. After services family and friends will proceed to Bayview Memorial Cemetery, Scenic Hwy for burial. Pallbearers will be his son-in-law Jerry Busch, grandsons Chris Staples, Neil Busch, Jeff Jackson, Daniel Hawkins and cousin Bill Chavis.
