IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary
Bond
August 26, 1925 – February 20, 2023
Mary Frances Howarth Bond, 97, died on Monday, February 20, 2023.
Mary was born on August 26, 1925, in Burlington, NJ. When she was 16 years old, she moved to Pensacola with her parents, brother, and four sisters. She graduated from Pensacola High School in 1943 and spent the rest of her life living in Pensacola.
Mary met the love of her life, Bill Bond, after arriving in Pensacola. With her father's permission, Mary married Bill when she was 18 years old. Mary and Bill spent 73 years of happiness together until he died in 2017.
There is an old expression that behind every good man is a good woman. Mary was that woman. Mary unselfishly supported Bill through his time serving in combat in WWII, his professional career, his volunteer activities, his hobbies and of course the daily care of their children.
After their children were raised, Bill and Mary rediscovered each other and were able to enjoy many years of activities together. During the same time, Mary was able to enjoy playing tennis and bridge. She also spent many years working as a realtor.
Mary had a lot of close friends during her life but her dearest friends were her sisters, Louise Ray, Sarah Hayes, Pauline Scruggs, and Marie Gardner. Mary also had a deep affection for her longtime friends, Lola and Byron Blake.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents, George and Frances Howarth; her brother, George Howarth; her sisters, Louise Ray, Sarah Hayes and Marie Gardner; as well as her great-granddaughter, Sadie Dales.
She is survived by her four children, Patty Broutin (Jean Marie), Bill Bond, Jr. (Lani), Charlotte Northup (Larry) and Mary Frances Kohlmann (Michael Valentino); her grandchildren, Rob McDaniel, Mark McDaniel, Olivier Broutin, Yannick Broutin, Web Bond, Watts Bond, Marshall Sims, Cameron Northup, Charlotte Dales, and Leighton Smith; as well as 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mary will be buried in Holy Cross Cemetery alongside Bill at a private family ceremony. The family will receive friends at 11:30am, Friday, February 24, 2023, at the Parish Hall of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ARC Gateway, 3932 N. 10 th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32503, or a charity of your choice.
