Obituary

Mary Lucy Boyette Maver, 94, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018.

She was born February 10, 1924 in Santa Rosa County, FL to Jessie Oliver Boyette and Florida Venice Hamilton Boyette. She married David Blair Maver Jr. on January 29, 1943 on the Naval Air Training Base Opa Locka, FL. Married to a Naval Aviator, they moved frequently from Naval Air Station to Naval Air Station. After military life she was active in Girl Scouting through her two daughter's scouting years. She also served as Den mother for her son's Cub Scout Troop. She was selected as a member of the Nursing Home Ombudsman Committee of the Dept of HRS based on her volunteer work at her mother's local nursing home. She was active in Presbyterian Churches from South FL to Pensacola. In 1995 she was awarded by the Presbyterian Women, Presbyterian Church (USA) an Honorary Life Membership for her outstanding contributions to the life of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was instrumental in starting Trinity's Wednesday night suppers. She volunteered in the kitchen for many years overseeing and preparing the suppers, women's luncheons. Lightshine dinners, weddings and any other church functions that needed her expertise. In 1983 she became the Official Church Hostess. After her retirement in 1992 she became the chairman of the Sunshine Committee for her circle and for Presbyterian Women Coordinating Team, coordinating prayer chains, visitations and meals for bereaved families.

She was devoted to her family and church. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved gardening and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Blair Maver, Jr.; son, David Blair Maver III; siblings, Abner O. Boyette, Lewis D. Boyette, Noble J. Boyette, Sr., Dovie Lee Boatwright, Jessie A Boyette, and Earnest M. Boyette.

She is survived by her daughters, Eleanor Maver Hazucha (Paul) and Carol Ann Maver Orta; grandchildren, Leon Dwight Linkey, Lottie Victoria Hart (Adam), Jennifer Lynn Mayhair (Jason), Keely Ann Hilton (Jason), and Elizabeth Ann Davis; great-grandchildren, Christian Davis, Zachary Glenn, Pandora Linkey, Kaylin Glenn, Madalyn Mayhair, Wesley Hart and Katie Hilton.

We would like to express our deep appreciation for the care provided by the staffs of Emerald Coast Hospice, Council on Aging, Home Care Solutions, Interim Health Care and Primary Care House Calls. A very special thanks for the exceptional loving care given by Tabitha Reedy, MSW and Lashay Scott, CNA of Emerald Coast Hospice, Georgia Robbins of Home Care Solutions, Leoma Greene of Interim Health Care and Charla Johansen GNP-C, of Primary Care House Calls.

A Memorial Service will be 1:00pm Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Trinity Presbyterian Church with Dr. Hugh Hamilton and Rev. Frank Beall officiating.
