IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary "Beth"
Erickson Fuller
April 4, 1924 – June 21, 2016
Beth Fuller, 92, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 following a brief illness. Her death came 3 weeks following the passing of her husband Ralph. In death as in life, they were inseparable. She died just as she had lived; quietly & peacefully. She is irreplaceable in our hearts.
Beth entered the world prematurely on April 4, 1924, the first of 3 children born to Thomas "Mr. Tom" & Mary Margaret "Molly" Erickson. Weighing just under 3 pounds, she became the first baby born at the old Sacred Heart Hospital to survive through the use of a then recently donated incubator. Many visitors, including school children on a "field trip" came to see the tiny miracle baby being kept alive through the modern medicine of that time.
Beth had a large extended family dating back to the earliest years of Pensacola. With the exception of a brief time spent in New York & Rhode Island (due to Ralph's employment) she spent her entire life in Pensacola. She was a treasure trove of information regarding its rich history & could recall it with vivid detail. She spent her childhood in East Hill & in 1942, she was a member of the first graduating class of Catholic High School. After working briefly as a bookkeeper at NAS, she met & married Ralph in 1951. They spent their lives happily together for the next 65 years. She was a devoted wife & a loving mother to their 2 sons, Rick & Jamie. She was Grandma to Heather; Nana to Sarah; Great-Grandmother to Adam & Anna, all of whom loved her dearly. She was quiet & gentle, patient & thoughtful; to her many life-long friends she was kind, loyal & always welcoming.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Erickson; husband, Ralph A. Fuller; a younger sister, Jeanne "Janie" Johnson; brother-in-law, Dennis "Denny" Johnson; younger brother, Thomas "Butch" Erickson, Jr.; granddaughter, Elizabeth Anne Fuller; brother & sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. John "Jack & Grace" Mazur; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, & cousins.
She is survived by her 2 sons: Richard T. "Rick" Fuller (Jan) & James G. "Jamie" Fuller (Wendy); granddaughter, Heather Fuller Martin (Johnny); granddaughter, Sarah Fuller; great-grandson, Adam Martin; great-granddaughter, Anna Martin; step-grandson, Charles "Bunky" Payne; 3 nieces, Laurie, Kiri, & Kathy; and 2 nephews, Jack & Dennis.
A Memorial Mass for both Beth & Ralph will be held 2:00pm Saturday, July 30, 2016 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Doug Halsema celebrant. A Rosary will be recited prior to mass at 1:40pm. A celebration of their lives will take place in the Geri Room following the service. All are welcome to attend.
