Mary Louise French Minshull passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010 in her hometown of Gulf Breeze, Florida. Mary Louise was born on October 30, 1930 at her grandmothers house in Stockton, Alabama and grew up in nearby Atmore, Alabama. She began her college education at Augustana University in Rock Island, Illinois and later transferred to Auburn University where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority and graduated with a degree in nursing. Mary continued her education at Charity Hospital in New Orleans where she earned her certification as a Nurse Anesthetist. Upon completion of her studies she moved to Pensacola where she worked at Baptist Hospital. She married her husband Bob of 48 years in 1959 and soon afterward moved to Greenwood, South Carolina where they had three children. Mary retired from nursing shortly before they moved to Gulf Breeze in 1970 so she could devote more time to raising her family. Mary Louise enjoyed celebrating her family heritage and once served as the Governor of the Alabama Society of Mayflower Decedents. She was a very active member of the Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church, the Santa Rosa Womans Club and volunteered at local hospitals and with many other local organizations. Mary Louise was preceded in death by her husband Robert G. Minshull, Sr; her mother Mary Willie Gause French; her father Terence Evans French, Jr.; her sisters Jane French Madison and Lillie French Reese Berman. She is survived by her sons, Robert George Minshull, Jr. and Warren Evans Minshull; daughter, Mary Catherine (Cathy) Minshull; brother Terence Evans French, III and many cousins, nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 5-7pm Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 12:00noon Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jerry Blacklaw officiating. The family will receive friends at 11:00am Thursday prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Stockton Memorial Cemetery in Stockton, AL. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church, the American Heart Association or the Alzheimers Association.
