Obituary

Mary Liptak Galbavy, 94, of Pensacola, FL died peacefully in her sleep at Azalea Trace on Thursday, July 17, 2014. Mary was born in the small town of Surovce, near Bratislava, Czechoslovakia (now Slovakia.)She was raised in a family of six children. Her pioneering spirit brought her to America in March, 1939 as a single woman at 18 years of age. Here she gained employment in New York City and learned the English language and eventually became a US citizen. Returning to visit her home town and family in 1948, she married her husband, Stanley Galbavy. Mary and her husband both decided to return to the US and explore available opportunities from their home in NYC. Here they raised their two sons, Edward and William. Mary was a loving and dedicated wife and mother who brought God, love and wisdom to our family and home. She is preceded in death by her husband and all her siblings. Mary is survived by her two sons, Edward (Judy) and William F. and her five grandchildren, Edward Jr, Lauren, Christine, Sarah and William R. Visitation will be held at 10am Thursday, July 31, 2014 with a Funeral Mass beginning at 11am at St. Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery at 2pm. The family of the deceased wishes to express their thanks to the staff of Azalea Trace for their loving support. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the church organ fund at St. Paul Catholic Church, 3131 Hyde Park Rd, Pensacola, FL 32503.
