Obituary

Mary Lou was born in Miami, FL on November 30, 1954 to Robert and Ione (Strange) Ivo. She was received to Glory on April 20, 2015 at age 60 years 4 months and 20 days. She attended St Luke's Lutheran Day School, Oviedo FL for all of her elementary school years, graduating from 8th grade on June 4, 1970. She attended Oviedo High School, Oviedo, FL graduating in June 1973. She also married Steve Linck, a Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class, USN, August 18, 1974. During her early adult years she worked for child care facilities both at the Lutheran Haven in Oviedo, FL and Marine Corps Helicopter Base, New River and also as a cook for Riesel ISD in Texas. Throughout her life her primary occupation outside the home has been as a self-taught florist, working with her sisters and mother in the family shop. She also most recently worked as a receptionist and file clerk for McDonald, Flemming and Moorehead, attorneys in Pensacola, FL. However, the occupation she most enjoyed was her lifelong passion the role of mother and grandmother. Raising five outstanding children, she always had pride in all of them. As a stay at home grandmother, she took great pleasure in watching and playing with her grandchildren. Devotion to family and friends describes Mary Lou the best. Her natural gift was hospitality and many a back yard reception and or party was hosted by Lou. Flowers and plants were her hobby and enjoyment and the back yard flowerbed and garden her playground. A mother figure to many college youth throughout the years, Lou opened her home to weekly dinners, for many. The rule, "There is always room for one more at the table" was a common theme in her home. It is impossible to describe the depth of her love for friends and family and her love of life. Through parishes in three states, Mary Lou has left her mark of service to church, hospitality and friendship. She will be greatly missed by many. Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ione Ivo; infant son, Robert Scott; nephews, Bobby Jakubcin, Joshua Howell and niece, Rebecca Jakubcin. She is survived by husband, Rev. Stephen S. Linck of Pensacola; children, Nicholas and (Emily) Linck of Pensacola, Timothy and (Molly) Linck of Pace, Elizabeth and (LT. Coe Hoffman) of Pensacola, Benjamin Linck of Pensacola, Marissa and (Ken) Melvin of Midwest City, OK; sisters, Diane Jakubcin (John) of Oviedo, FL, Margaret (Chuck) Shultz of Orlando, FL, Berry (Tom) Daly of Winter Garden, FL; brother, Gregory (Shelly) Ivo of Eastman, GA. She is also survived by grandchildren, Cecilia Linck, Noah and Luke Hoffman and baby due in July, Rebekah Linck of Pensacola. In additional Mary Lou had 18 nieces and nephews with 9 great nieces and great nephews. She touched many, many lives. It is impossible to mention all the friends and connections May Lou had through Trinity Lutheran, Riesel TX; St. Paul, Groves, TX; Grace Lutheran Church, Pensacola, FL and (yes) Words with Friends and other on-line relationships. On line-off line, Mary Lou was the personification of family.
