Obituary

Mary Cook Moffett Hufford, 82, died on Thursday, September 12, 2024. She was born in Pensacola, FL. A devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she was the only child of Sara Cook Moffett and Alexander Stuart Moffett.

She attended P.K. Yonge Elementary, A.V. Clubbs Junior High, and Pensacola High School.  For her PHS Class of 1960, she and her husband chaired all ten of their Class Reunions.

Mary was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pensacola, ordained as an Elder, and served as a Church School Teacher for over thirty years.

Mary was a Sustainer member of the Junior League of Pensacola. She received the Joan Gonzalez Award for her outstanding volunteer work and also was honored with the first Shirley McConnell Bargain Sale Award. She chaired many Junior League committees.

Her employment experiences included serving as the Volunteer Coordinator at the Rehabilitation Institute of West Florida and as a Creative Memories Scrapbook Consultant.

Mary was very active in her Pensacola community. She served on a number of boards, including Speech and Hearing, Volunteer Pensacola (past President), Children's Home Society, Council on Aging (past President), National Kidney Foundation, and FavorHouse of NW Florida (past President). She was a Charter member of IMPACT 100. She was a member and past President of three Mardi Gras organizations, Mystic Maids, Pierrettes, and Merry Makers.

She dearly loved Christmas and extensively decorated her home each year. She hosted a Christmas Coffee for her many friends for forty-one years.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Arthur "Art" D. Hufford II; her son, Arthur Hufford (Kathryn); her daughter, Lynn Hufford Green (Bruce); as well as her treasured grandchildren, Grant Green, Julia Hufford, Maisy Hufford, and Dean Hufford.

A Memorial Service honoring Mary's life will be held at 11:00am Monday, September 23, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church of Pensacola, 33 E. Gregory St., Pensacola, FL 32502, with reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. A private family interment will be held at Bayview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Memorial Fund of the First Presbyterian Church, or to a charity of your choice.
