Mary Evelyn Monk Thaxton, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2018 at the age of 91. She was born May 07, 1927 in Lake, MS to the late James William Monk and Lillian Alberteen McCoy Monk. Mary Evelyn attended Lake High School and then business college in Jackson, MS. She lived in Jackson, MS and Texas, before moving to Pensacola in 1955

She worked for the Pensacola Police Department Central Records Division from 1959 to 1989 before retiring. She was a member of Olive Baptist Church.

Mary Evelyn enjoyed gardening, reading, music, but most of all spending time with family, especially grandchildren, great- grands and friends. She was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be missed every day.

Mary Evelyn is survived by her daughter Mrs. Marjorie (Ron) Adkison; granddaughters Mrs. Kristen (David) Hempfling and Ms. Leigh Anne Adkison; great-granddaughters Kaitlyn, Amy, Karissa, Bailee, Riley, Mackenzie and Danika.

The family would like to give special thanks to the many nurses and staff at Bayside Health & Rehabilitation Center for their loving care for the past nine months.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30pm, Friday November 30, 2018 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32504.
