IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Antionette
Moran
June 13, 1928 – December 16, 2024
Mary Antoinette Poropat Moran, died peacefully at home in Pensacola, FL, on December 16, 2024, at the age of 96. She was born on June 13, 1928, on the South Side of Chicago, IL, to George and Maria Piitz Poropat.
Mary grew up in Chicago and attended Fenger Academy High School before entering the job force. She was married to her husband of 67 years, Robert W. Moran, living first in Blue Island, IL, and then in Tinley Park, IL, where they raised their five children.
In later life both Mary and Bob took up running and competed in numerous running events, winning many of them, including triathlons. They enjoyed traveling and upon retirement decided to move to Florida where they could be near the water and escape the snowy winters of the Midwest. It also helped that two of their daughters lived in the state!
Mary could be a feisty champion for her children, but she also had the heart of a poet, and her infectious smile could light up the room. She lovingly cared for her family and was known for her baking skills. Often staying up into the wee hours of the morning, she always made sure that teachers, friends and family were the recipients of her homemade goodies.
She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Rudolph Poropat and his wife Mary; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Lyons Moran, and father-in-law, Robert Joseph Moran; and nieces Martha Poropat Eckert and Dana Siemsen.
Mary is survived by her husband, Robert William Moran; children: Daryl Moran Lindstrom (Richard) of Middletown, MD, Patricia Moran Janicek (Frank) of Pensacola, FL, Mary Moran Rayson (Tom) of Captain Cook, HI, Robert James Moran of Milton, FL, and Kathleen Moran of Pensacola, FL. Mary will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Dawn Lindstrom Calciano, Jennifer Lindstrom, Kathryn Lindstrom Clark, Danielle Lindstrom Blaser, Colin Rayson, Billy Rayson, Emily Moran, Hannah Moran, Nora Moran, Bobby Moran, Andrew Janicek, and Viktor Janicek; and great-grandchildren: Siena Calciano, Kadin Calciano, Hannah Clark, Adam Clark, Kaylee Clark, Allie Clark, Jocelyn Blaser, and Callie Blaser.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Patricia Moran Siemsen, her brother-in-law, Edward Siemsen, and their children, Edward, Shawn, Patrick, and Michael; and a niece, Ruth Poropat Mellott.
As health issues demanded full time care, Mary and Bob took up residence with their daughter Kathleen and were lovingly cared for by daughters Patti and Kathleen, son-in-law Frank Janicek, along with their grandson Viktor. Thanks also go out to the health care professionals, Judy, Miaya, Yolanda, Monica, and Qua'shun, who provided care and companionship to Mary.
