Obituary

Mary Isabel (O'Carroll) Hennick passed away at home on Monday, March 21, 2016.

Isabel emigrated from Ireland at 18 years of age to attend Nursing School at Atlantic City Hospital in NJ. She was born on March 30, 1933 in Ballinrobe, County Mayo, Ireland and was one of eight children born to Francis O'Carroll, M.D. and Catharine (Collins) O'Carroll. She was very musically inclined and performed in many musicals and operas, played the piano and fiddle, and taught her children and many grandchildren Irish dancing.

She married the love of her life, Raymond J. Hennick in 1958. She loved traveling and enjoyed moving to new places in her role as a navy pilot's wife. After settling down in Pensacola, FL in 1973, Isabel began working as an RN in the Emergency Room at Sacred Heart Hospital. She went on to get her BS in Nursing from the University of West Florida, her MS in Nursing from the University of South Alabama, and finally her post graduate Certification in Ostomy and Wound Care Nursing from Emory University. She loved helping others in her role as an Enterstomal and Wound Care Specialist. She is remembered by many for her compassion, care, and patient advocacy. She retired after many fulfilling years in home health care and consulting.

Isabel had a deep love for God, her husband and her family. She attended daily mass and was very active in the Catholic Church. Her home and her heart were always open to the neighborhood kids. She was active in establishing the Right-to-Life movement in her Diocese. She was active in the Irish community in Pensacola.

She was preceded in death by her father, Francis O'Carroll, M.D.; her mother, Catharine Collins O'Carroll; and her son, Michael Hennick.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Raymond Hennick; children, Linda (Paul) Kent of Gulf Breeze, FL; Kevin Hennick of Charleston, SC; Brian Hennick of Pensacola, FL; Timothy (Lisa) Hennick of Birmingham, AL, and Stephanie (Phillip) Blaxton of Collierville, TN. She had 15 grandchildren – Sarah Kent of Tampa, FL, Ryan Kent of College Park, MD, Tiffany Hennick, Trevor Hennick, and Amber Hennick of Charleston, SC, Mary Hennick, Brendan Hennick, Max Hennick, and Victoria Hennick of Pensacola, FL, Mason Hennick of Mossy Head, FL, Joseph Hennick of Birmingham, AL, Caitlin Blaxton, Madeline Blaxton, Emily Blaxton, and Riley Blaxton of Collierville, TN; and 1 great-grandchild – Raighlyn Hennick of Pensacola, FL.

A Rosary will be recited at 4:45pm Sunday, March 27, 2016 with visitation to follow until 7:00pm at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.

A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00am Monday, March 28, 2016 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Pensacola. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be Kevin Hennick, Brian Hennick, Timothy Hennick, Ryan Kent, Brendan Hennick and Max Hennick.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Trevor Hennick, Mason Hennick and Joseph Hennick.

The family would like to thank and bless the many people who helped with her care, especially the nurses and staff of Regency Hospice, the caregivers from Home Care Solutions who were so wonderful to Isabel, Nita Wilson and Fr. Kevin McQuone.
