Mary K. Shirkey, of Pensacola, FL, passed away after an extended illness at the age of 89, on Monday, June 16, 2025.

Mary was born to the late Isacc and Louise Stansberry Bennett in Washington Courthouse, OH in 1935. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Velorus Shirkey; two brothers, Isaac and Jay Bennett; and dear friend, Flaudie Gregory.

Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed spending time reading, and tending to her yard and her beautiful flowers. She was skilled in the art of Crochet. Mary loved to spend time with her family and friends, she will be missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory include, her daughter, Deya Shirkey; son, Kerry Shirkey; four grandsons, Levi Shirkey, Luke Shirkey, Jay Shirkey and Will Hogan; two brothers, Jerry Bennett and Herb Bennett; sister, Nonie Cotton; many extended family members, nieces and nephews and dear friends also survive.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Emerald Coast Hospice for the loving  care shown to Mary during her time with them.
