Mary Fox Sylte, 87, of Pensacola, FL passed away Friday, April 22, 2022.
Mary was born in Pensacola, FL on November 4, 1934, to Mary (Fox) and Francis Kelton.
She graduated from Pensacola Catholic High School in 1952, and attended college in New Orleans, LA. She was married to Ens. James Erskine, who was killed in a military airplane accident. Three years later in 1959, Mary married her current husband, Thomas W. Sylte. They moved to Minneapolis, MN and later returned to Mary's hometown, Pensacola. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed being a USO and Naval Hospital Volunteer. She had a lifetime love for her dogs, and always had a smile on her face. She loved looking at the bayou, her beautiful gardens, and flowers. Mary was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband; and her siblings, Francis Kelton, Jr., Abbie Meek, and Edmond Kelton.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas W. Sylte; sons, James Erskine Sylte (Inger) and Andrew Thomas Sylte (Vicki); daughters, Lee Ann Hind (Mike) and Jill Kristin Sylte; six grandchildren; and her sister, Edwina Burchardt.
Visitation will be held 5:00pm-7:00pm Friday, April 29, 2022, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.
Mass of Chirstian Burial will be celebrated 10:30am Saturday, April 30, 2022, at St. Paul Catholic Church, with Fr. Craig Smith celebrant. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
