Maude Evelyn Guess, 88, of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away at her home September 17, 2015. Maude was born December 5, 1926 in Sanford, FL to Isaac and Myrtle Meloy. After graduating from Leon High School, Maude enrolled in the nursing program at Tallahassee Female Academy and was accepted in the Cadet Nurse Corps Program at Pensacola Hospital School of Nursing (Sacred Heart on 12th Avenue). While working there, she fell in love with Henry Grady Guess, Jr. (Boody), a WWII combat Veteran, and the two married on March 20, 1948. During her iconic nursing career, Maude sat on several Boards of Directors including: Baptist Hospital Federal Credit Union, Easter Seals Society, Lung Society of NWFL, and was one of the original, seven Board members of Rehabilitation Institution of West Florida Hospital. Her charm, wit, directness, and sense of humor could only be trumped by her passion for Estate Sales, chocolate, shoes and most importantly her family. She was the Queen of the castle, and respected and loved by everyone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry (Boody) Guess, Jr; sister, Lenora Chason; and her parents, Isaac and Myrtle Meloy. Maude is survived by her sister, Betty Clark; her son and daughter, Henry G.
