Born in Accra, Ghana, on November 6th, 1989, Maureen Asante-Nkansa entered the world as the cherished first child of Dr. Kwame Asante-Nkansa and Rosemary Aryee. Her journey eventually brought her to the United States as a young child, growing up in Maryland and New Jersey, where her natural brilliance quickly became undeniable. Throughout her school years, Maureen didn’t just excel—she shone, consistently earning her place on the Honor Roll and within the Honor Society before continuing her education at the University of Tampa.

But to truly know Maureen was to know the music and the theater in her soul. She was, quite simply, the light and the rhythm of every single family gathering. A fierce lover of 90s R&B and legendary performers, she was the girl who could sing every lyric, flawlessly perform the memorized choreography from TLC’s "Waterfalls" video, and enthusiastically attempt Michael Jackson’s iconic anti-gravity lean from "Smooth Criminal." That was just Maureen—full of life, humor, and an infectious joy.

Blessed with a radiant personality, she poured that same vibrant energy, love, and care into everyone around her. Whether she was dancing, filling the house with song, or offering ready generosity to anyone in need, Maureen lived with a beautifully open heart. Rest in Peace, beautiful lady. Your melody and your laughter live on in us forever.

Visitation will begin at 10:00am Monday, June 13, 2026, until the Funeral Service at 11:00am at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
