Obituary

Maureen Laureate Clements (Pilon) passed away peacefully, on Saturday, June 14, 2025 in Pensacola, FL. She was born on August 5, 1938, in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of Dollard (Dee) and Marie Pilon. Her family moved to Indianapolis, IN where she attended Little Flower Elementary and graduated from St. Agnes Academy. In HS, Maureen loved the journalism club and even started a social club, WHACS. She went on to earn a BSN in Nursing, from The Mount Saint Joseph College in Cincinnati, Ohio. Over the course of their marriage, Maureen and Ken lived in Indianapolis, IN, Lafayette, IN, Carmel, IN, Centerville, OH, and Panama City Beach, FL.

Maureen married her college sweetheart, Kenneth, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded by her parents, Dee and Marie.

Maureen is survived by her beloved family, including her son, Kenneth "Kasey" Clements Jr. (Donna); daughters, Karen Ratliff (Jeffrey), Kristine Frey (Steven), Kathleen Sherwin, and Kimberly Bonner. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; Christopher (Christina), Nicole (Anthony), Reagan (Chipper), Sarah (Patrick), Tyler (Shelby), Kyle, Charlotte, Grace, Jack, Riley, Amanda, Austin, and Nevaeh; as well as 8 great grandchildren, McKenna, Zachary, Colton, Greyson, Madeline, Dylan, Addilyn, and Jocelyn. She is also survived by her two sisters, Barbara (John) and Patricia (George); her two sisters-in-law, Joyce (Dave) and Rita Clements and many nieces and nephews.

Maureen's life centered around her family. For a number of years, she was involved in Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts. She also enjoyed traveling with Ken and their friends, as well as, playing in the ladies golf league at Hombre Golf Club in Panama City Beach, where she and Ken spent the majority of their retirement years. Her hobbies included reading, cooking, playing in numerous Bridge groups, macrame, cross stitch, and jewelry making. She was multi-talented in a lot of areas. Anyone who knows Maureen can tell stories of the many pastime activities or trips she involved herself. When her grand kids and great grand kids started arriving, they became the center of her life. She visited them regularly. She was more than our mother or Gigi, she was our friend.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. A committal service will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
