Maureen Portway Johnson, 90, of Yuma, AZ, previously of Miramar Beach, FL, passed away peacefully into the arms of God on Thursday, February 6, 2025.
Maureen dedicated wife of MSG/E-8 Verlon Johnson, who preceded her in death. Loving mother of Nicholas Satornetti-Portway. Loving paw mother of Venus.
She was born in Grimsby, she spent her childhood in Lincolnshire, UK. She married and divorced after which she trained as a Radiologist in London. She then moved to Saudi Arabia where she was head of her Radiology department. There she met and married Verlon Johnson. After which they moved to Florida where she resided until 2020 when she moved to the Yuma, AZ area.
She was a member of the Episcopal Church of England and was an avid reader. Maureen participated in church activities including Yoga. She was a zealous dog lover. Everywhere she went, she made friends who then became her family. They were with her until the end. She was loved by everyone she met and will be missed by all.
A Graveside Service will be held 1:00pm Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Barrancas National Cemetery, with Fr. Walt Kindergan officiating. For those wishing to attend, a funeral cortege will depart Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32504, at 12:30pm. She will be laid to rest next to her late husband, MSG Verlon Johnson.
