Meek Calhoun "M.C." Kiker, 85, of Pensacola, FL passed away on Tuesday, August 1st, 2017. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, Mason, patriot and decorated war Veteran. He was an unwavering and devoted man, loved by all who knew him.
Meek was born in Vaiden, MS to Frances Weeks and Meek Kiker, Sr. on June 18, 1932. At 17, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
Early in his proud military career, he received a battlefield Officer's Commission to First Lieutenant in Vietnam. Achieving the rank of Captain, he returned to the enlisted side and attained the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant. Meek served honorably in both Vietnam and Korea. He retired after 22 years of distinguished service.
After retiring, he joined the U.S. Customs Agency in 1967. He flew, often the Black Hawk, on countless missions enforcing the nation's laws. While serving in the Marines and The U.S. Customs, he logged over 10,000 flight hours and was awarded countless awards and distinctions. He retired as an Aviation Group Supervisor in 1995.
He was a member of Escambia Lodge #15 F&AM as well as a 33 rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, where he served as a Knight Commander. Meek truly enjoyed the community, service, and friendships he found there.
He married the love of his life, Miyako Yamamoto on February 4, 1958 in Tokyo, Japan. Theirs was a true love story. Miyako preceded Meek in death on March 22, 2015.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Frances Walden and son, Dale Kiker. He leaves his devoted grandchildren, Courtney Rawson, Kevin Walden, Kyle Walden, Lexi Warren, Caitlin Tourje, and Addison Kiker; also his precious great-grandchildren, Sadie, Jack and Cove. He says farewell to his daughter-in-law, Laura Kiker and his son-in-law, Jerry Walden, and his grandsons-in-law, Jared Rawson, Joshua Warren and Seth Tourje.
Visitation will begin at 3:00pm Saturday, August 5, 2017, followed by the Funeral Service at 4:00pm at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, Meek would be honored for donations to be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project by visiting woundedwarriorproject.org/donate .
