Miriam Barbee passed away on February 2, 2009 at the age of 89. She was born on July 30, 1919 in Bagdad, FL, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J. B. Turner. She graduated in 1937 from high school in Milton, FL, and in 1939 from Greenbrier College in West Virginia. Miriam met and married Albert R. Barbee in 1942, and spent the next 20 years raising 4 children and travelling the world as a Navy family. She moved to Gulf Breeze, FL in 1966 and resided in the Pensacola area until her passing. In Gulf Breeze she was active in many civic organizations, in the Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church, and in spending time with her family and friends. One of her many highlights was hosting family reunions in Gulf Breeze where all the children and grandchildren would spend time together. Her last years were spent at Azalea Trace in Pensacola, FL. Miriam was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Albert R. Barbee. She is survived by 4 children, Steven Barbee (Claudia) of Guilford, CT; Susan Coleman (Patrick) of Hounslow, England; John Barbee (Carol) of Navarre, FL; and Janet Dickey (Will) of Jacksonville, FL; and 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church from 9:00 to 10:00am on Monday, February 9, 2009 with funeral services at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
