John G. Calderon, age 85, of Navarre, passed away peacefully with his family at his side April 09, 2019. He was born June 25, 1933 in Freeport, Illinois to the late Seferino and Juanita Calderon. John was a proud U.S. Air Force Retiree, serving in Korea and Vietnam. He followed his retirement with a second career at the Department of Labor, serving 15 years prior to retirement. John was an avid aviation enthusiast, earning his private pilot license and using it all around the country. He also enjoyed fishing and being a member of The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Loyal Order of Moose and the Elks.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Joseph Calderon, Felipe Calderon, Martin Calderon, and Frank Calderon; sisters Seferina (Pepe) Mahoney, Mary Calderon, Tory Dawson and Sister Mary Frances Calderon.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Melissa "Lynn" Calderon; step-daughter Michelle Hallada; brother Alberto Calderon of WisDells, WI, Sister Juanita Boatright of Freeport, IL and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of extended family and close friends.
A funeral cortege will depart at 11:30am, Thursday, April 11, 2019 from Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd., Pensacola FL. Visitation will be from 12:00pm, until the Catholic Funeral Service begins at 1:00pm at the Naval Aviation Memorial Chapel, Bldg. 1982, Naval Air Station Pensacola with Fr. Eugene Casserly as celebrant. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
