John L. Garrett, Jr., 86, resident of Pensacola, FL went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 3, 2016. John was born June 9, 1930.
He was a retired Master Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, a 60 year Master Mason and a devoted brother, husband, father and grandfather. His long history of civic and charitable service includes being a Scoutmaster and Committee Chairman for the Boy Scouts of America, founding the Pensacola Volksmarch Club, volunteering with youth marksmanship teams and volunteering with former Florida Congressman Earl Hutto.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara; sister, Barbara Woolen; sons, Jay, Mark and Tim; daughters, Wanda, Delores and Michelle.
Visitation will be held at 9:30am on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Harper Morris Memorial Chapel with Memorial services beginning at 10:30am with Pastor Mark Cooley of Burgess Road Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery aboard NAS, Pensacola.
