Murphy Joseph Jacob, 95, of Pensacola went home to his Father in heaven on Thursday, January 9, 2014. He was surrounded by his loving family. Murphy was a resident of Pensacola for 57 years. He served in the US Navy during WWII, and was retired from Civil Service (NARF) after 39 years. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus. One of the greatest joys in life was spending time with his two grandsons. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Busbee Jacob; parents, George and Stella Jacob and his brothers, Chester, Jean and David Jacob. Murphy is survived by his daughter, Jan Jacob Reed (Robin L.) of Pensacola; grandson, John Jacob Eager (Emily) and grandson, Ryan Matthew Eager all of Houston, TX; sisters, Marjorie Frady and Elmire "Sis" Kaczmarek and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held at 11:30am Wednesday, January 15, 2014 with Funeral services beginning at 12:00noon at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Fr. Eugene Casserly officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with Navy honors rendered at 1:15pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
