Myriam Ruth Orvin House was born May 24, 1926, in Charleston, SC. She passed away quietly on February 9, 2016 at Covenant Hospice in Pensacola, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Wright Orvin and Ruth Verile Orvin; her husband, John Hendricks House; two brothers, John and George Orvin; and one son, Dale Michael Boggs.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheridan Loudon (Sandy) of Pensacola, FL; three sons, Heyward House of Foley, AL, Kevin House (Pam) of Alexandria, VA, and Stuart House (Jane) of Coral Springs, FL; two sisters, Anne Yarborough and Shirley Munn; eight grandchildren, Alex Loudon; Christopher, Rebecca, Ryan, Sara, and Allison House; Lisa and Dale Boggs; as well as her five great-grandchildren: Kalyn Knupp, Summer Hanson, Michael Spencer, Sara Loudon and Carter Marquez; as well as nearly two dozen nephews and nieces.
Myriam married John Hendricks House in 1951 and they were married for over 60years. They lived for some years in Charlotte, NC before returning to Charleston in 1970. Myriam, also known as "Mimi" by family, loved to host parties and socialize with friends and her husband Hendricks. Myriam was an avid reader and decorator. In the 1960's she earned a certificate in Interior Design, a subject for which she held a life-long interest. She also studied to become a board-certified Realtor in the State of South Carolina. She was always passionate about low country venues and architecture. Myriam loved to travel, and help people plan their international travels. She had the good fortune to travel to Austria with her husband Hendricks more than once. She was an active member of the Carolina Dinner Club and the East Cooper Republican Party.
She became a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Charleston, SC, in 1970. She later became a parishioner of All Saints Episcopal Church of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, where she lived in retirement until moving to Pensacola, FL to be close to her daughter in 2014.
