Obituary

Nancy Lucille Cannon Boyles entered eternal life Sunday, November 23, 2014. Born October 31, 1943 in Cordele, Georgia, she was the daughter of Joseph Warren and Lillian Pridgen Cannon, and granddaughter of Joseph Warren Sr. and Harriet Vinson Cannon and of William Earl and Nancy Pearl Helton Pridgen. As the beloved wife of Karl Winston Boyles, Jr, together they shared four children: Deborah Boyles Della Rosa and her husband Brian (Moorestown, NJ); Karl Boyles, III; Joseph Boyles and wife Laura; and William Boyles and wife Dana (New Orleans), and grandchildren: Sofia and Michael Della Rosa; Cannon, Sarah, and William Boyles; and Matilda and Oliver Boyles. Survivors also include two sisters, Carol Cannon Humes (Columbus, GA) and Kay Cannon McWiliams and husband Bill (Cordele, GA); her brother-in-law Walter Boyles and wife Nancy (Conyers, GA); as well as innumerable extended relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, and her brother-in-law Jim Humes. Nancy graduated from the University of Georgia, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Throughout her life, she maintained friends from her childhood, college and her young adulthood in Atlanta. She and Karl enjoyed friends in a variety of organizations in Pensacola including: BSSC, Pierrettes, Saints and Sinners, Merry Makers, The Mother Earth Society, and Pensacola Country Club. They traveled extensively but most enjoyed family trips to Cannon Farm in Cordele. Nancy taught school, but also enjoyed forays into retail and fashion. Primarily, she supported Karl in his work, and enjoyed keeping their home and maintaining their gardens. She will be remembered for her sense of style, her predictable tardiness, her selectively fastidious nature, her love of a party, and her zest for fashion, antique furnishings, and decadent food and wine. However, her legacy will be her unabashed optimism and unquantifiable strength that was exemplified throughout her illness with her "I feel great" reply to all inquiries. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy's memory may be made to the Children's Ministries of Christ Church Parish, P.O. Box 12683, Pensacola, FL 32591. The family recognizes the gifts of time and energy offered by her many friends this last year and their devotion is a testament to her long reaching impact on the lives of those who knew her. The family is also grateful for the tireless dedication of her numerous caregivers and medical teams as well as her flying Ace. A memorial service will be held on November 29th at 10 a.m. at Christ Church, 18 W. Wright St. in Pensacola with Fr. Neal Goldsborough officiating. Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
