Obituary

"A mother's love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible." – Marion C. Garretty.

It is with great sadness our family announces a beloved sister, wife, mother, and friend Nancy Sue Haddox Gandy left this world on Monday, April 6, 2020.

Nancy was born on December 11, 1948 in Bastrop, LA. She graduated high school in 1967, from Eldorado High School and spent most of her work life in retail and grocery store establishments. Nancy worked in grocery stores in Louisiana, Texas, and Florida (specifically Pensacola). Her last assignment though, was in Winn-Dixie in Pensacola before she retired. Nancy and Terry met in Shreveport, LA and would have celebrated their 36 th wedding anniversary this year.

Nancy loved to bowl and was very good at it. During her free time, she would hang out with her "book club" and watch the Food channel, always looking for a tasty new recipe. Nancy stayed active in her family's and friends' lives and always remembered to call or text to remind someone she was thinking about them. Nancy was the matriarch of our family and provided guidance and love to all. With words of encouragement when needed and an excellent ear for listening, she always knew what to say or do for us. Nancy was quick-witted and knew exactly what to do to make us laugh. There are not enough words to express the amount of love her family and friends have for her, and no one will ever be able to fill the void she leaves.

Nancy is preceded in death by her mother, Bettye Lou Goodnight Greenwall, and her father, Herschel L. Haddox.

She is survived by her husband, Terry Gandy, Sr.; and her children, Kimberly Humphrey, Robyn Gandy (Mohamed), and Terry Gandy, II (Kelsi). She's also survived by her one sister, Margaret Haddox, who lives in Provo, UT, and her two grandsons, Matthew Haynes (Sara), and Michael Christopher Haynes (Amanda). Before Nancy left this world, Matthew and Sara made her a great-grandmother, by having little Aemon Matthew Haynes in late 2019.

Private family service will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel and interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Due to current world conditions, attendance is limited only to immediate family members.
