Obituary

Nancy Mills McLendon, age 91, of Gulf Breeze, FL, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, in Gulf Breeze. Nan was born in Pensacola, FL to the late Archibald and Irma Dewberry Mills, the eldest daughter of the six Mills siblings. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John C. McLendon; brothers, Archie and Bill Mills; Sisters, Bobbie Sims and Janie Solomon; sister-in-law, Betty Elmore; nephew, John Elmore.

Nan was raised in Pensacola, FL and Hazlehurst, GA and attended Georgia State Woman's College. She was married to John McLendon for 53 years and they had four children together, Bob, Doug, Jan and Chuck. Nan was active for many years with the Santa Rosa Woman's Club and Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed her duties as a poll worker in local Santa Rosa County elections,  playing bridge and bowling with her friend's.

Nan was a true southern lady who loved her family and enjoyed life fully. Nan loved meeting and talking to people.  She never met a stranger.

Those left to cherish her memory included, her four children, Bob McLendon (Lisa), of Panama City, FL, Doug McLendon (Janet), of Sanford, FL, Jan Pacenta (Bob), of Gulf Breeze, FL, Chuck McLendon (Joan), of New Symrna Beach, FL; nine grandchildren, Betsy Weber (David), Molly McLendon, John McLendon (Sara), Taylor Pacenta, Carly McLendon, Chase McLendon, Katelyn McLendon, Matt Pacenta, Lauren McLendon; two great grandchildren, Ansley Weber and Cade Weber; brother, Harry Mills (Sunny); and brother-in-law, Lowell Elmore; as well as numerous niece's and nephew's.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Bayview Memorial Park, with Pastor Dan Morris, officiating. Active pallbearers will be John McLendon, Chase McLendon, Matt Pacenta, David Weber, Bill Mills, Bob Pacenta, Mark Elmore and Scott Elmore. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:15 A.M. on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, Building Fund.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to The Arbors of Gulf Breeze, Home Instead (Linda Johns), Emerald Coast Hospice, and Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church for the love and care shown to Nan.
