Nathan Nat Keith Fields, 75, of Pensacola, FL passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Nat was born January 15, 1935 in Austinville, VA to John and Helen Fields. A graduate of Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN, Nat spent a life dedicated to family, community and country. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and went on to mentor and develop youth leaders as a life-long professional for the Boy Scouts of America. Friendly and easy-going, he is remembered for his knack of turning a meeting with a stranger into a lasting friendship, and often enriching the lives of others. In retirement he enjoyed woodworking. Many of his friends and associates treasure his specialty, the hand-crafted personalized walking sticks he made. However, his greatest joy was cooking for and spending time with his family, and especially his grandchildren. Nat is survived by his wife of 19 years, Dianne; five children, Nathan Fields, Jr., Dawn Phillips and husband Andy, John Fields, Desiree Fields, Andy Faulkner and wife Deanna; and four grandchildren, Amanda and Andrea Phillips, and Drew and Courtney Faulkner. Visitation will be held 2-4pm Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 9:30am Monday, September 20, 2010 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Kenneth Autrey officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with military honors. If desired, donations may be made to Boy Scouts of America or a charity of your choice.
