May 19, 1938 – July 11, 2021
Neta Saetre Gilmore Tipton, 83, was a strong and loving lady who was born in Natchitoches, LA in 1938. She succumbed to multiple medical illnesses on Sunday, July 11, 2021. She is survived by her sons Chip Gilmore (Judy) and Gilbert Gilmore and her sister, Margaret Ward. She was predeceased by her parents, Gilbert T. and Alma Myers Saetre; her daughter, Kathryn Leffel; Barry Gilmore, father of her children; and James W Tipton, her late husband.
Neta had lived in Hattiesburg, MS where she also attended the University of Southern Mississippi. She and her family moved to Dayton, OH and from there here to Pensacola where she was hired by the Medical Center Clinic Anesthesiology Department to be their department manager. She maintained that position for 32 years but continued to do some consulting work. A volunteer teacher in aquadynamics, she was an example to her students and maintained her ability to walk with assistance for many years which followed an unfortunate accident when she was a teen. Her perseverance, determination, and dedication to a job well done kept her progressing through life trials and earning the respect of all who knew her.
She was active at Holy Cross Episcopal Church and devoted to her grandchildren: Aaron, Haley, Blake, and Eli.
Time and date for a memorial service is to be announced and will be held at Holy Cross Church, 7979 North Ninth Avenue with interment of her cremains in Cottage Hill, AL, next to the gravesite of her husband Jim. Cremation will be carried out by Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.
