Nettie Jean Disch McCulley, 93, a native of Gilbert, LA and a resident of Pensacola Beach, FL died Thursday, November 27, 2025.

Nettie Jean, a retired librarian, graduated from Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge, LA earned her B.A. at Baylor University and master's at George Washington University. She was a public-school librarian for 30 years, working in Texas, Maryland, California, New York, Kansas, and Escambia County Public Schools in Pensacola, FL. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, Kappa Delta Pi, American Library Association, Florida Retired Education Association, and Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church.

Nettie Jean is preceded in death by her husband, former NFL Coach Pete McCulley; son, William James "Billy" McCulley; sister, Mary Sue Disch Meador; her parents, Willie Joseph Disch and Ella Sue Disch; Pete's parents, Claude McCulley and Georgia Price McCulley; son-in-law, Kevin Deutsch; brothers-in-law, Robert McCulley and Bob Meador; niece, Fran Champagne; as well as a nephew, Randy Meador.

Survivors include her son, Kit McCulley, (CDR USN, ret.) and his wife, Susan Wood McCulley; daughter, Kimberly McCulley Deutsch; grandchildren, Hannah Bolinger and her husband, Jason Linker, Kaitlin McCulley and her husband, Jason Ray, Zachary McCulley and his wife, Libby McCulley, step grandson Dalton Deutsch; great granddaughters, Ella Linker, Eleanore, Abigail, and Lucy McCulley; great grandson, Max Alexander Ray; niece, Jan Ripple (Steve); nephews, Bobby Meador (Wendy), Rick Meador (Teri), and Russell Meador (Laura), Gary Champagne (Theresa); grandnieces and grandnephews.

A private graveside service will be held at Greenoaks Memorial Park in Baton Rouge, LA.
