IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Neville Marstiller
Peterson
August 19, 1928 – March 19, 2025
Our Lord Jesus Christ has welcomed Neville Marstiller Peterson home on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, after gifting us with her life of 96 1/2 years. Surrounded by her children and other loved ones, Neville passed peacefully enveloped in love and with her ever-joyful spirit intact. Her life was filled with love and adventure, primarily alongside her husband Eric.
Born August 19, 1928, to the late Clare "Ted" and Virginia Marstiller, Neville and her beloved brother, Jim, grew up in West Virginia. Neville and Eric dated in high school and throughout college. After graduating from West Virginia University and while Eric was in medical school, they married on June 24, 1950. Together they spent 74 years in marriage, raising a family, traveling the world and being helpmates to one another.
Neville possessed a zest for learning her entire life. She earnestly pursued her interests, to not only master the skill, which she always did, but to also find joy through the process of growing and creating. She was adept in art, photography, singing (she even sang at the White House!), playing the piano, sailing, sewing, traveling, gardening, studying antique woodworking tools, volunteering and she was also a voracious reader. But the passion, art-form and talent most synonymous with Neville was quilting. She was recognized and awarded both locally and nationally creating well over 60 quilts from pictorial wall hangings to king bed sized masterfully crafted quilts. Neville expertly patterned, pieced and hand quilted her beautiful creations, intrigued by the combination of mathematics and artistry needed to create her quilts. Her enthusiasm for her passions often led her to be a sought-after teacher and mentor, helping others to foster a sense of accomplishment, growth and enjoyment in the endeavors.
As a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Neville's legacy will live through her example of kindness, consideration, curiosity, faith and devotion. She was a genuine, kind woman whose sincerity and warmth radiated through her infectious smile and laughter. As a Christian, she lived the tenets of her faith in her daily life; humility, stewardship, faithfulness, generosity and love.
Neville is survived by her daughter, Kirsten Milliken, of Dallas, TX; her son, Marsh Peterson, of East Moline, IL and their families; She was blessed with eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
They feel blessed that she is now reunited with Eric and is now home.
